mavg query timeout when called through the REST api

I am running following wavefront query to get `SINGLE  VALUE` which is Average over the given time range for which the query is being called. This works fine in the dashboard but it times out when called through the REST API. Can this query be optimized:
     mavg(1vw, avg(ts(telegraf.response.times.99.percentile , accountid="123" and env="prod" and myvar!="true”)))
I tried with following but does not help

mavg(1vw, avg(align(900s, mean, ts(telegraf.response.times.99.percentile , accountid=“123” and env=“prod” and myvar!=“true”))))

App Volumes 4.0 Packages

I understand the intention of App Volumes 4.0 is to package each individual application on its own.  Has anyone tried testing with 30+ packages being attached to a VM?  Is there any issues with the VM having that many vmdks attached? How's login time impacted?  How's the failure rate on so many attachments?  If we were to package each application individually, I can easily see a VM having 50+ packages attached for admins.  With that said, I wonder if it's still better off creating a package just like appstacks where it contains all the applications for each department.

Adding port groups to VDS post deployment?

After deploying the management workload domain, is it OK to manually add additional custom port-groups to the VDS?

If so, is there any impact to the SDDC manager workflows going forward if these customizations are made?

 

On non-management workload domains, I have the same question, but I'm also interested in NSX-T overlay backed segments for these workload domains.

What would the impact be here?

vCenter registration of the VASA provider failed.

Добрый день, уважаемые форумчане.

 

Столкнулся с проблемой, в которой не могу включить vasa provider, в vcenter 6.0 U3.

При попытке регистрации получаю ошибку в которой сообщается о истекшем сертификате. Хотя никаких сообщений о том что где-то истек сертификат, я не наблюдаю.

Ошибка при регистрации vasa provider:

Погуглив возникшую ситуацию, нашел kb с такой же ошибкой VMware Knowledge Baseно он косается версии vc 5.5 , выполнить описанные действия в ней я не могу, так как каталога такого нет, утилиту по проверке, запустить, про которую описано в kb не могу -C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\VMware vCenter Server - Java Components\bin.

Хотя файлы про которые в kb написано есть, в каталоге: C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\cfg\sps\ssl

Чтобы сгенерировать новый сертификат в kb написано, остановить службы, переименовать файлы в каталоге, и запустить службы, дождаться генерации новых сертификатов и радоваться. Опять же службы - VMware VirtualCenter Management Webservices в VC6.0 U3 такой нет.

 

Подскажите, пожалуйста, как решить возникшую ситуацию ?

App Volumes 4.0 Limiting Attachments

Are there plans to add the ability to limit attachments to only VMs beginning with a specific naming scheme as seen in 2.x?  This is a feature we use often as we have users who access multiple pools and for us as admins when testing an appstack.  Having the ability to control which pool users only get their appstacks/packages is a necessity for us.

VCSA 6.5 does not send alerts to e-mail

Hi,

I have the following problem. Currently, I installed a new Vcenter Server Appliance in version 6.5.0.14000. I can not cope with sending notifications via VCSA that does not work.

My external mail server for sending notifications works fine. Notifications from other devices affect my inbox.

I would also like to emphasize that our mail server (mail.companydomain.com) is open to the IP address and ports of the VCSA server.

Configuration in the VCSA GUI is in the instructions (Vcenter General-> Mail) in the fields are filled in as follows:

• mail server - mail server address (mail.companydomain.com),

• mail sender - (helpdesk@companydomain.com)

When using the VCSA console, the command:

echo "Subject: sendmail test" | sendmail -v my.email@companydomain.com

the mail is forwarded to my mailbox.

This is how my sendmail works in VCSA. Where to look for a problem?  It's need any additional settings?

VDI Users see apps moving between screens when locking and unlocking workstations

We have a floating non persistent windows 10 pool. When our users with multiple monitors lock their workstations and come back, their session is still live but when they unlock their apps move to the opposite screen and resize. Has anyone seen this? Is there a fix?

vSphere Replication Traffic Isolation

I have put a design together that aims to isolate the vSphere Replication Traffic onto its own VLAN. The new infrastructure is:

 

  • 2 Datacenters
  • P2P Link Connecting the Datacenters
    • VLAN for ESXi Management, used by ESXi Hosts only is VLAN 997, This is a Layer 2 VLAN between sites
    • VLAN for vCenter Servers Management IP Address is on its own VLAN for security that is VLAN 998, this is a Layer 3 VLAN between sites
    • VLAN for vSphere Replication Traffic is VLAN 999 and is Layer 2 between sites. (Therefore there is no GATEWAY for this VLAN, which makes the static route on replication appliance an issue?)
      • Within this replication VLAN, no ports need to be opened as no firewall exists within this VLAN.
  • 1 x VCSA 6.7 at each site with Management IP / Interface on VLAN 998 1 SSO Domain and Enhanced Link Mode Enabled
  • All ESXi Hosts have a dedicated port group for the VLAN 999 and then have a dediated VMKernel port with the services vSphere Replication and vSphere Replication NFC enabled and a static IP on the VLAN 999 subnet.
  • 1 x vSphere Replication Appliance 8.2 deployed at each site.
    • Each Replication Appliance has 2 x Interfaces,
      • 1 for Management (VLAN 998)
      • 1 for Replication (VLAN 999 with a static IP.
  • So to summarise, the vCenter Servers and vSphere Replication appliances management IP Addresses and Interfaces are all within the SAME VLAN 998 and no firewall exists within this same VLAN. Only firewall cross VLAN so from VLAN  997 to 998 for example.

 

Inventory Detail

  • Each site/vCenter Server has several HA/DRS Clusters, that all have their own Dedicated ESXi Hosts.
    • within each site there is a dedicated ESXi Host that is for the Management Cluster and dedicated to host the management machines such as VCSA, vSphere Replication etc.
  • The machines that are to be replicated with vSphere Replication are in separate clusters at each site. so if we are to configure a VM to be replicated this will be from the vSphere Replications management interface on VLAN 998 to the ESXi Hosts where the machines reside on VLAN 997.

 

So my questions regarding this are below:

 

  1. I want to ensure traffic is isolated so that from SITE A to SITE B the replication traffic only routes over the Layer 2 Connection on VLAN 999.
    1. within the replication appliances i have set the IP for incoming storage traffic to the interface on VLAN 999 so that any incoming traffic will be isolated, however this does not cater for outbound traffic, so i have SSH'd to the replication appliances and gone into the dedicated replication interface settings and tried to add a route:
      1. vi /etc/systemd/network/10-eth1.network
      2. However as the VLAN is only Layer 2 there is no Gateway so how can i add a route to ensure the traffic is isolated? We dont want this to be a L3 VLAN as that would put load on the firewalls.
  2. Based on the above infrastructure, considering that Traffic BETWEEN VLANs is firewalled, where do you see that ports will need to be opened? Specifically for replication?
    1. FYI, i have deployed the VCSA, Replication, etc and all management is connected fine so all ports relating to that are fine as all in the same VLAN 998.
  3. In terms of where machines will be replicated, where will the replicated machine reside?
    1. see the below yellow line, so if i replicate a VM from the Production cluster in SITE A, where will its replica reside in SITE B? My understanding is that it would reside on the MANAGEMENT ESXi Host where the vSphere Replication Appliance is hosted?

Dual monitor only show one- other is undetected

I am having an issue with only one user out of a couple hundred. She only has one monitor detected out of two.

Really bizarre issue. I had this happen before when the Wyse thin (Linux) client had a setting that was ticked.

I have blown away the VM, I have reassigned, and nothing worked until I sent her to a different pool.

We are using Appsense for user profiles, but I have even blown away her personalization as well.

 

I am hoping there is a simple Reg key I can adjust that will help me in this..

Update:

When I move the 1 user this is happening to - the boom she get's both monitors and when I move her back to the original pool she only gets one.
I am recomposing the VM's and re-assigning  her to new ones when I switch her. I still think it has something to do with her profile.

Find VMs without NSX Security Tags

Is there a way to make a report that shows any vms without a security tag attached, print it to html, and add a total at the bottom.  Is this doable or is something needed to pull this data from NSX?

Applications Switching Monitors

Hello, my organization is running Horizon Client 7 on our VMs. We typically have 2 monitors at each station. Occasionally a user will lock there computer and when they come back to it any open applications will have switched monitors. For example, Outlook on the right will now be on the left and Chrome on the left will now be on the right. It doesn't effect everyone all the time and it doesn't seem to make a difference whether I put them on VMBlast or PCoIP. Has anyone else seen this, or even better, know how to fix it? I appreciate any thoughts you can offer. Thank you

VMware Horizon 7 仮想デスクトップ展開時のエラーについて

お世話になっております。

 

■質問事項

Horizon Administrator管理ツールから仮想デスクトップ展開した際、Horizon Administrator管理画面のマシン項目に

展開後のマシン名が表示されるのですが、ステータスが「エラー」となり、以下のメッセージが表示されます。

 

　※Horizon Administrator管理ツール→リソース→マシンの項目のステータス表示

　No network communication between the View Agent and Connection Server.

　Please verify that the vitual desktop can ping the Connection Server via the FQDN

 

　※Horizon Administrator管理ツール→カタログ→デスクトッププールのステータス表示

　マシンxxのプロビジョニングエラーが発生しました。ViewAgentとConnectionServerとのネットワーク通信がないことによる

　カスタマイズエラー

 

　デスクトッププールのイベントを見ると、メッセージが「プールxxの仮想マシンxxにビデオ設定が正常に構成されました」まで進んでます。

 

過去、同様の事象で解決された方とかいらっしゃいましたら、ご意見頂けますでしょうか。

 

■補足

・おおもとのESXiのポートグループを無差別モードに変更

・NestedESXiのネットワークアダプタをVMXNET3に変更

・AD/DNS/DHCPのドメインに関連サーバがドメイン参加されていることを確認(正引き、逆引きで名前解決されていることを確認済み)

・疎通確認済み

・仮想デスクトップ(Win10)のネットワーク設定のIP、DNSは自動取得に設定、ドメイン参加した状態でパワーオフ、スナップショット取得

・仮想デスクトップ展開後のWin10は該当のDHCPからIPアドレスがはらいだされている。ドメインは付与されている

VCSA6.7導入時のエラーについて質問させて下さい。

 

■事前対応

AD(DNS)サーバで正引き、逆引き登録済み

　172.23.46.102とtake001-horizonvc.test-kensho.comの組み合わせ

 

■ステージ1の設定項目(関係個所のみ抜粋)

仮想マシン名：take001-horizonvc

FQDN:take001-horizonvc.test-kensho.com

IPアドレス：172.23.46.102

DNS：ADサーバと同じIPアドレスを設定

 

【ステージ1の事象】

ステージ1で以下のエラーメッセージが発生

「インストーラがvCenterAppliance管理インターフェイスに接続できません」。PlatformServicesControllerが組み込まれたvCenterServerが正常にデプロイされました。

 

ポート番号5480で接続出来るとメッセージされていたので5480に接続してステージ2に進む

 

■ステージ2の設定項目(関係個所のみ抜粋)

セットアップをクリック

 

システム名：take001-horizonvc.test-kensho.com

IPアドレス：172.23.46.102(デフォルトに設定されている)

DNSサーバ：ADサーバと同じIPアドレス

 

【ステージ2の事象】

ステージ2のプログレスバーが進行し、90%ぐらいでセッションが切れる

https:// VCSAのIPアドレス:5480/ でログインすると、問題なく接続される

 

■質問

ステージ1の事象が発生した原因と改善方法はありますでしょうか。

また、ポート番号5480でステージ2に進んでも問題ありませんでしょうか。

 

ステージ2の事象で途中でセッションが切れましたが、正常に導入されている認識で良いでしょうか。

Workstation Player crashes on vm start

Hello All,

 

Debian 10 Buster.

 

trying to start a newly created VM on Workstation Player 15.1  the gui shows for only 2-3 seconds and crashes. Am thinking both of the servers we have are probably too old to meet the actual requirements of VM Player. During installation of VMWare Workstation Player the installer complains of "Your PC does not meet requierments , do you want to proceed' This about  a 12 year old intel server,and do have both VT-X and VT-D enabled in bios,
Even tried setting up a simple pxeclient VM,,to boot and it crashes on arrow> startup identically as both Linux and Windows created  VM's .
This crash routine happens identically on both of these servers tried installing VMWare Workstation Player on.
In the logs there are many lines of cannot find this file and this file and this file?... Logs are identical on both servers.

Adding Network Mounts to MacOS

Trying to get Network Mounts I have setup in a User Profile for MacOS, but they arent appearing on the Operating System when you login.  The Mac is added to our Domain and enrolled in WorkSpace One.  Other areas of the user profile are applying properly and the device profile is applying as well.  Its just the network mounts that arent showing up.  The mounts in the profile are listed using smb://server/folder and I can access any of them if I manually go to GO - Connect to Server and type the path in....but I do get a prompt telling me I am trying to connect to the path, which I just click connect...

 

This is a Mac running High Sierra, but I've tried it with Mojave as well.   I've tried them as Network Mounts and Authenticated Network Mounts with no luck

NSXでトラフィック　リダイレクト先の仮想ＦＷがダウンしている場合の対応について

事例があれば教えて下さい。

 

NSX vSphere Version: 6.4.3 Build 9927516

NSXでＶＭへのトラフィックを仮想FirewallにリダイレクトしＶＭ間通信を制御しています。

 

リダイレクト先の仮想ＦＷがダウンしている場合、ＶＭからの通信のリダイレクト先がみつからず

疎通ができなくなる為、仮想ＦＷ障害発生時の対応について検討しています。

 

対応策としてＮＳＸのネットワークインストロペクションサービスでリダイレクト先のFWサービス

がダウンしている場合、リダイレクトを手動で無効にすれば（添付）ダウンしている仮想Firewallに

リダイレクトされないので、ＶＭ間の疎通ができるようになります。

 

障害発生時、都度人間が設定を変更するのは大変なので、リダイレクト先のFirewallがダウンしている際、

Firewallにリダイレクトさせないような設定をいれたいのですが、方法・事例等ありましたらご教示ください。

Disable Hyper-V?

I have downloaded and installed VMWare Workstation 15.5 for a class in college where we will be utilizing virtualization quite a bit, but when I installed it and tried to run it, it came up with an error message saying that I had to disable Hyper-V. When I went to find it in my features and programs list, to disable to role, but Hyper-V isn't even there. I also noticed that when I opened up my system info previously, I had like 4 or 5 "Hyper-V" related things enabled, but when I go there now they have been replaced by something that says "a hypervisor has been detected, anything that requires Hyper-V will not be displayed". I don't know if that last part has anything to do with it, but I don't understand why it is telling me to disable Hyper-V when it isn't even on my computer anymore. I am running workstation pro 15.5 on Windows 10 Home. Please help.
