Como puedo restaurar la integridad de un disco .vmdk
Buenas tardes amigos, mi problema es el siguiente, tengo un servidor Windows Server 2016 montado sobre ESXI 6.0, de un día para otro dejo de funcionar, intente crear una nueva vm utilizando el disco vmdk existente pero no me es posible, incluso cuando voy al data store a revisar el disco puedo ver que el mismo no es reconocido por el explorador de vmware como un archivo .vmdk, aun cuando tiene la extensión como pueden constatar en la siguiente imagen.
No se, si alguien acá podría recomendarme una herramienta externa que corra sobre windows que sea capaz de restaurar la integridad de ese disco virtual, de ver si alguno sabe, se lo agradecería enteramente con toda mi alma HEHEHE...

Error loading /vmware_f.v00 - Fatal error: 8 (Device error)
So, i have this IBM server that one day disconnected from vCenter. I checked ping to the server from vCenter and from other hosts and vice-versa and everything was responding ok.
Strange, i went to check the console. It was responding kind of buggy, it took at least 5 minutes to login, so I rebooted and when was loading de ESXi i got the following error:
"Error loading /vmware_f.v00
Compressed MD5:00000000000000000
Decompressed MD5: 00000000000000000000000000
Fatal error: 8 (device error) "
I rebooted again and the error didn't happen, so now everything seems to be working fine. But i'm worried because two reboots to make it work isn't really a good sign haha.
Has anyone seen this before? I saw the KB 2008817 that speaks about the same error but a different component (/s.v00). By the way i running ESXi 6.5 (build 6765664).
Any insight?

Any good solution to use IP instead of FQDN for vCenter VM?
Hi there,
I am setting up vCenter env in my laptop, however, I just want to use IP for simple instead of domain name. Currently I am using Workstation to install a VM with vCenter, and configure DHCP service to assign a fixed IP to this VM, any other good choice if I want to get rid of service down while IP is changing?

CDR Problem in Linux ( View Client )
hi
I have a problem with view client in Linux
when the user tries to share folder in Linux client with horizon Agent machine (windows and windows RDS and Linux) in tsclient nothing will be shown but usb redirection works fine
and in windows view client everything is working correctly
I have tested view client in Debian 7,9 and Ubuntu 16.04
and my Q2 :
Horizon not supported Drag and Drop the file in Linux agent machine to the client?
because I can't find anything about that on config files

Multiple networks on a host ( segregating by bandwidth)
Hi All,
I have a vmware host which has 2 physical up-links (redundancy) , currently I have 1 v-switch and all is passing through it. I needed to have separate port groups/switches with different bandwidth allocated to them so I can assign accordingly to the requirements. I managed to set the threshold to 100 down. and it is working, but I the issue I have having by this method is that I cannot use it since to create another v-switch I don't have a physical adapter left.
Lets say i need to have 3 types of "bandwidth groups" one of 100MBps , one with 500MBps and one with 800MBps what do you recommend to use? because I think I am using the wrong approach to the situation.

Planned migration / move Recovery Site
Hi,
I'm very new to SRM and haven't even installed/played with it yet. We are planning to use vSphere replication and SRM to do a planned migration of a small number of VMs from one site (A) to another site (B). We expect the replication of all the VMs over the WAN to take a couple of weeks. We need to minimize server downtime and also avoid buying new server hardware for site (B), so the plan is to first replicate and failover over the VMs from site (A) to a third site (C) which does have available / spare server resources. Then we will move all the server hardware from site (A) to site (B), reverse the direction of replication and protection and then cutover from (C) to (B). My understanding is that this is all possible and straightforward with SRM...
However, we may need to keep the server hardware running at (A) for a few days after the VMs are cutover to (C) before we can move it to (B).
My question: Is it possible to begin the replication / Reprotect of the VMs from (C) to (A) during those few days and then, when we are ready, move the servers to (B) , then 'resume' / resync the protection and finally cutover the VMs from (C) to (B). i.e we delay moving the physical servers from (A) to (B) but it has almost no impact on the amount of time that we have to leave the VMs running at (C)
If it's not possible then I think it would be a nice feature! I have noticed this forum post which indicates I may be expecting too much though? (SRM IP Change )

Vcenter and Operations manager VM Reports are off -- Causing Concern for Customers
I have a customer running the latest release of operations manager and the latest release of Usage Meter. In the past the Vcenter VM report and the Operations Manager Report numbers matched. Since the upgrade of the two products the report numbers are off by a lot. I suspect that usage meter in pulling the wrong report in Operations manger. Can someone help with this issue? It may something that we want to look into. Who can I talk to about this possible bug?

V2V of Server 2012 R2 Fails at 98%
Hi. I'm using the latest version of standalone converter 6.1.1 and it's failing when I convert a powered off VM from one ESXi host to another. Both hosts are ESXi 6.5.
It gives a conversion status of: FAILED: Unable to find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible.
Also, in the log highlights it has: Error: An error occurred during reconfiguration.
Attached are the converter logs.
Can anyone advise?

ERSPAN on VDS?
Hi All, having trouble finding an answer on the interweb and will not have access to my lab for a few days.
Consider a vsphere 6.x environment that uses VDS. We have an appliance that needs to receive all data from specific vlans within the vmware environment. For the ERSPAN destination, does it require a dedicated NIC/uplink or can it use existing uplinks to forward traffic to the IP address of appliance?

Saving Manually Created Printers
I have the need to capture Manually Added Printers via UEM.
It is not saving the printer under HKCU\Printers...
but I see then under:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PrinterPorts
Is it possible to saved these User Created printers with UEM? They are Printers going to TCP ports if it makes a difference.
I'm using the build in Printers (mapped) template. Regular run from Logon/Logoff.
Was wondering if I was missing something...

Unique count of hostname as single value varies day to day
I have 20K hosts that I am trying to validate logging in Log Insight. On Friday, I ran a query in version 4.3 of Log Insight for "unique count of hostname as a single value" for the time period 2017-11-14 00:00:00.000 to 2017-12-14 15:54:16.053. The count was 8627. I run this same query today for the same time period and see a value of 7650. On both runs, I see a small alert triangle noting "Results may be inaccurate because some groups have too many distinct values."
Is this the root cause of the reported differences? No data has aged out of the cluster during this time period (per the email notifications that I would receive on dast aging).

Strange: Win7 VM's work with NAT, Win 10 VM's don't
All of a sudden all of my Windows 10 VM's don't work with NAT (they used to), but my Windows 7 VM's still do. Can't pin down the change, but it appears to have been the last High Sierra upgrade, rather than a windows update.
Anyone else seeing this?

Problems installing Win Server 2012 on Workstation 9
I have a Windows 7 64-bit host computer with Workstation 9 installed.
I am trying to create a Win Server 2012 vitual machine, but I keep getting a licensing error. There are other posts on this subject, but they pertain to Workstation 8. I have tried the solutions in those posts, but I still have a problem.
I have downloaded the ISO file using Internet Explorer two times. One time I used the ISO to create the VM and one time I burned the ISO on a DVD and tried that. It still gives me this error when installing:
"Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation."
The problem is I've tried the installation 5 to 6 times and I can't get past that.
Has anyone done this successfully?

Upgrading Issue from Win7 to Win10 (missing .dll)
Please help,
I just got a new MacBook, installed VMWare fusion 10, and windows 7, ran all updates and everything runs fine.
Trying to use the windows 10 upgrade assistant to upgrade to 10, and I get the following message:
"The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-|1-1-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I have tried the following:
Uninstall and reinstall assistant
Uninstall and reinstall VMware tools
Ran CCleaner registry check, fixed a few issues, still nothing.

6.5 Web Client - Can't see cross domain users in groups
In the vCenter Web Client, after adding a user to the Administrators group they don't show up in the Group Members list if they are not a part of the root domain that is specified as the identity source.
For instance, Identity Source is domain.xyz as integrated login.
Add users to the Administrators group:
- If users are a direct member of the forest specified in the identity source, they should up under group members after being added
- If the users are members of a forest that is trusted under that identity source, they do not show up in the group members list
As a test, I created a group that would contain ONLY those members in the domain that is outside of the identity sources forest and they still don't show up as group members.
I know the adds are working because I'm logging in with those accounts after they've been added so even though they're not showing up they are still there.
Two things:
- Is there a way in PowerCLI to see all members, regardless of domain, that are in a group?
- Can this get corrected so we can see these users through the web interface?

Host Array Question
In the script I've pieced together I am currently using a host array by specifying each host FQDN, but of course that doesn't scale very well with lots of hosts. Is there a better alternative that I can use to slightly tweak the array to include a range or something?
I'm using a bunch of for each $vmhost in $vmhost_array loops throughout the script and would prefer not to break them if possible.
What I'm using now:
$vmhost_array = @("host01com","host02com","host03com")
I don't think I can use this within the array, can I?
